Famous words always announced by Groucho Marx as he began his show ‘You bet your life’. Back in the ’50’s when his program was so popular, there was bonus when someone said whatever the selected “magic word” was in conversation, then a bird would drop.
What bird? That was my mother, Delilah Chicken, before she met my father, Eggbert Chicken (no relation) on the set. He was a stage hand doing lighting.
In a whirlwind romance of two weeks, they eloped to Mexico where they married and honeymooned in Guata la Cocka until they ran out of money.
Back on the set, when the show needed a new bird, they found some stuffed duck with a fake mustache.
