When I saw the half-time at the 2021 Super Bowl, I got chills. My body began to shake and shutter. I was instantly taken back to my P.E. class in the 7th grade.
Oh… I feel nauseous!
I remember it like it was the day before yesterday!
My P.E. class was a mix of 7th, 8th and 9th graders. Well you know what the 9th graders do to 7th graders.
7th graders were call ‘scrubs”. 8th graders were ‘rooks’, but 9th graders were ‘freshman’ in the parlance of my Jr. High School ethics. It was simply customary to ‘initiate’ scrubs by freshman whenever they could. Well it happened to me and my friends, Jerry Stevens and David Nelskonski. We had to wear some freshman’s used jocks on our heads and march around the gym. AND THERE WERE GIRLS IN THE CLASS TOO!
Seems the custom has continued.
That’s a lot of guys getting initiated, for sure. I can only see one guy defying the ritual. These guys will be scared for life like I have been. You hear about people dreaming of being naked in school trying to open their locker and get to class on time? I have that dream as well, but with that damn jock strap on my head at the same time.
Those poor half time guys in front of the world!
Hi there, daily i check webpage posts here early in the dawn, because i like to read about the Chicken’s thought..
When I was in the 7th grade the upper classmen made me and a few others do this. What was different than this was that the jocks were worn were not new or clean!
Lucky me I found your site by accident, and I am shocked why this accident did not happened earlier! I bookmarked it.
This is my 1st comment here so I just wanted to give a quick shout out and say I genuinely enjoy reading your articles. Thank you so much!
