I just don’t get it! “There’s no ‘There’ there”.
Don’t you all understand?
If you are told “There no ‘There’ there” you need to understand it.
Reminds me of those old movies of where a cop is guiding people away from a horrible accident… “Move along, Nothing to see here“.
You need to understand this. There’s nothing…
Another one that people just don’t understand is “It depends on your definition of what ‘is’ is”.
Get with it people. “There is no ‘There’ there”
Many ‘journalist’ on the alphabet networks will tell you the same thing.
It’s even a stronger statement when some highly elected official says it.
No, Now look! All kidding aside, I’m serious, not a joke, I’m not kidding, it’s a fact. You think I’m joking?… C’mon man! “There no ‘There’ there” .
The phrase “There’s no there there” is often used to convey that something lacks substance, depth, or meaning. It originated from a quote by Gertrude Stein, an American writer and art collector, who used it in the context of her hometown of Oakland, California. In her memoir “Everybody’s Autobiography” (1937), she wrote, “There is no there there,” referring to the fact that the place she once knew had changed so much that it no longer held the same significance for her.
Over time, the phrase has been adopted more broadly to describe situations or things that seem empty, unimportant, or lacking in substance. It can be used to express disappointment or a sense of hollowness about something that was expected to be meaningful or significant but turned out to be underwhelming or insubstantial. Essentially, it suggests that whatever is being referred to does not have a meaningful or substantial essence.
If there is now “there, there” then where is it?
.
