Early in the 70’s, my brother-in-law, Paisley Chicken wrote and performed in a duo call ‘Paisley and Garfunkel’. The big song was “Freeway Over Troubled Waters” performed for the first time in public at an art exhibit of an Andy Warhol painting attended by the Broadway director Neil Simon. The song played was about the troubles film director John Waters had working with Patty Hearst as she attempted to re-enter the public spotlight through film.

You remember Patty don’t you?

Granddaughter of William Randolph Hearst, and daughter of Randolph Hearst.
Kidnapped by the Symbionese Liberation Army (where that is and liberated from I don’t know) and held captive for over two months.

Symbia is a mythical place where unicorns played.

Her defense attorney was the famous F. Lee Bailey. He lost.

Anyway, Neil Simon pulled Garfunkel aside and told him to “dump the chicken and bring in in my nephew Paul. Let him re-work some things and the rest will be history.”
