Have you seen this on the news? A rash of fortune cookies with a distressing message hidden inside. Hundreds of Chinese restaurants have tried to explain to their customers that this message must be some kind of joke.
But the International Human Rights Commission thinks that it’s no joke.
“When a customer at a restaurant finishes their meal and gets the check with a fortune cookie on top and cracks it open to be amused by some prediction, they are shocked to read ‘HELP! I’m being held captive by Chainsaw Chicken International, Ltd‘. There’s also a lone chicken feather enclosed. This can be very disturbing,” commented the senior press manager for the organization.
He continued, “With all the funny business with Chinese tennis star Peng Shuai, we think she might be sending out some messages for help in a fortune cookie. No telling what the Olympians will experience there behind the bamboo curtain. ”
