For you spring chickens out there, the idea of having nothing but black and white TV and having 3 channels to choose from, seems to be an ultimate torture, but years ago, at the time, we thought it was pretty great to have any entertainment.

Personally, I was blessed with an extra channel so we had four channels. Three networks and one independent.

Then, out of the blue came color TV. Oh my goodness, it was spectacular. We would be spellbound by Little Joe’s green jacket on ‘Bonanza‘ or the splashes of color in the intro of ‘The Wonderful World of Disney‘ when Tinkerbell flew around the castle with her magic wand.

My favorite show was ‘Gorbonzo the Chicken’ on that independent network. It was a mix of off-color jokes, skit comedy and some 3 Stooges episodes.

No wonder my childhood is such a pleasant memory for me.
