I guess this American KFC Tweet — relayed through a Japanese account — is some kind of compliment. A clumsy attempt to piggy-back on my popularity. But fine, let’s call it what it is: fried flattery.

You know the old maxim:
“Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery that mediocrity can pay to greatness.” — Oscar Wilde.

Sounds classy, right? Until you remember Wilde spent a good part of his life spewing conspiracies and anti-Semitic garbage. Not exactly a genius you want to hang your banner on.

So thanks, KFC, for the nod. But here’s the thing — you can deep fry a drumstick, you can bread it, you can even bolt a plastic chainsaw handle on it.
You still can’t deep fry greatness.
